Getting sick :(

Wednesday February 5th, 2014 at 9:02 pm

Too. Much. Damn. Talent.

Some sporadic thoughts for the night, and also the last couple weeks in a nutshell. I’m not blogging as much as I could be.

My TESL classes are going pretty well, the first few classes are pretty introductory and I believe it gets more hands on as the weeks go by. I can’t say that I’m not nervous about teaching and it’s nice knowing that other people are the same. For some reason, at one point or another, I did think that teachers were never nervous, but I suppose that comes with experience. Pretty much all of the teachers that I’ve had handled their classes fairly well..whether or not they actually taught anything is a different story.

I normally don’t get sick, minus the one year I decided I was going to get a flu shot and I was sick on and off for several months. I think it’s the extremely cold weather we’re getting this year. Nashville hasn’t had record lows this low in almost a decade. There’s not much snow though. Normally when it’s extremely cold the weather is pretty dry. The warmer weekend this past weekend brought about quite a bit of rain. When it’s warm it rains non-stop, when it’s cold…it’s dry. :/

Anyhow, I must be keeping the house too cold at night. I try to save on electricity when I can and I don’t leave the heat running when I sleep. Last month, my electricity bill was $200 x_x While this is a lot better than what I’ve heard some people were paying, the highest my bill usually is any time of year is only around $60. I guess on top of the really cold weather, the new apartments that I’m living in also don’t really have good insulation since they’re kind of old.

I really should be working on my resume and cover letter (given I said I would finish those last week) but I keep getting distracted. I debated getting my resume professionally done but my dad had a point…no matter how good someone makes it look, your experience is going to be whatever your experience is. The only benefit is that someone may have a better way with words than you do. So, I’m not sure if it’s worth the $1xx.xx amount of money it takes to get one done nowadays.

Oh yea, I bought tickets to see this amazing chick in June (why can’t it be soooooner!!)

I discovered her on Pandora and she’s just freaking amazing, both in her original works and cover songs.
