Friday the 13th’s First World Problems

Saturday April 14th, 2012 at 12:27 am

This is more of a humorous rant…humorous in the sense that these really are just first world problems and a rant in the sense that it’s frustrating these many things happened to me all in one day.

I really don’t know what it is but I’ll blame it on Friday the 13th even though I am not superstitious. Usually, my days go by pretty well…boring, but well and the only frustrating things that happen is either some dumb driver on the interstate or something stupid happened at work. So, the list:

1) I wanted to download a new app this morning (which reminds me I still need to go do). It requires iOS 5. I never update my OS on my iPhone unless I need to. I hate the process, iOS 4 took me all night. I had to go to sleep and get it the next morning. I usually need my phone at night as it is my only alarm clock. My phone is also slow enough as it is since I’m still using the 3GS and it’s getting kind of old so I don’t like to update since it does slow my phone down some more. However, I know as long as one app starts requiring the new OS, more will follow so I decided I was going to suck it up and update my phone.

2) 2 instances, of which I will not go into much detail, happened on Facebook that irritated me. It wasn’t drama, just a post and a message that made me go what the fuck and wonder how people think.

3) While on the interstate going home, some lady wanted to merge onto the interstate from another entrance. Now, keep in mind my car was always in front of hers. She could have just slowed down and merged in behind me since there wasn’t anyone behind me. I, on the other hand, was more concerned about merging into the lane left of me so I wasn’t slowing down. Once her lane ended, she decided she was going to honk at me like it’s my fault for not falling behind her?

4) While updating to iOS 5…I had good news and bad news. The good news is this update took a matter of minutes. The longest process was transferring apps and all that good stuff. The bad news? For some reason, my phone decided it wanted to restore to factory settings. Not only did I all of my settings, I lost all of my contacts. This makes problem #1 that much worse as it was the cause.

5. To make myself feel better, I decided I wanted to treat myself and a friend to dinner at O’Charley’s (and to celebrate my slight raise at work). I’m standing directly in front of a bench, but on a corner, looking down and trying to add whatever contacts I could back into my phone. Luckily for me, I haven’t deleted text messages in a while so most of the people that I interact with were still there and I re-added their names. I wasn’t paying attention to what was going on around me although I knew that there were people around me. I suddenly feel this kid kick my leg from behind. Turns out, this family had decided that they wanted to sit on the bench with their 4 kids, completely disregarding the fact that I even exist. They had all of the rest of the bench to sit on but decided that they were going to move their kids directly behind me. They were so close, I was almost touching them. Could they not have just asked me nicely to move? Or moved down the bench where there was more room? Personally, I found it very rude, especially since I had been there for a little while.

6. I later realized that all my apps were gone from the phone as well. After transferring them back onto my phone, I spent a while reorganizing all my apps. I liked the way I had them before, but I couldn’t remember so I just put them in random orders. Time wasted that I could have spent working on something. Again, see problem #1 and #2.

But hey, at the end of the day I’m alive. I had a little fun playing around with Photoshop tonight. I think I really would like to get into editting photographs. I see many photographers doing it and it seems like a lot of fun.

I have work tomorrow but my My GLam bag should also arrive tomorrow if the post office is nice. I can’t wait to see it! :) On top of that, my Beauty Army box shipped so it should be here soon as well.
