Review: Target Beauty Bag & Garnier BB Cream

Monday April 30th, 2012 at 7:59 pm

This is more of an overview than an actual review. I more just want to introduce the items in the Target bag and the BB cream sample doesn’t really allow me room for testing and using :(

Earlier this month, Target was offering a free beauty bag to anyone who signed up as long as supplies were available. They bag was said to be filled with Spring goodies valued at $20! As far as I know, Target does this regularly…maybe 1-2 times a year? Either way, it’s a pretty nice deal from Target given that it’s free and allows you to try a few new items. I had almost forgotten about this until I read on blogs that people were receiving theirs.

I instantly knew what was coming once I saw the box. It doesn’t really allow a lot of room for guessing, does it? :)

The bag itself measures about 7 inches x 4 inches x 2 inches. This bag alone makes it totally worth it! I have more than enough makeup bags but I’m sure I can find some use for it. I love the quality of the bag. It’s very sleek and made out of sturdy fabric. The colors might not be my choosing, but I can’t complain.

Inside of the bag is a layer of sheer pink fabric.

A list of what is in the bag:

  • Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes 7 wipes
  • Pantene Pro V Color Preserve Shine Conditioner 1.7 fl oz
  • Nivea Extended Moisture Daily Lotion 1 fl oz
  • Neutrogena visibly bright Daily Facial Cleanser 0.5 fl oz
  • Loreal Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer Sample Packet
  • Target Coupon Book with 13 Coupons
  • Prices below are taken from the Target website. It is a target bag after all.

    Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes [Purchase]

    Actual Value: 25 wipes ($4.99)
Target Beauty Bag Value: 7 wipes ($1.40)

Description: Our Cleansing Facial Wipes, containing a perfect blend of vitamin goodness and gentle cleansers, refresh and nourish your skin and remove waterproof mascara. Perfect especially for sensitive skin.

I would actually love to try these. I love the smell of it, probably much better than my MAC face wipes. It’s very fresh and light and does smell like spring.

Pantene Pro V Color Preserve Shine Conditioner [Purchase]

Actual Value: 25.4 fl oz ($5.50)
Target Beauty Bag Value: 1.7 fl oz ($0.37)

Description: Protect colored hair and help restore its brilliance with Pantene Conditioner Color Hair Solutions conditioner. It refinishes hair’s outer layer, leaving color-treated hair looking shiny and vibrant again.

How did target know I was running out of conditioner? I know a lot of people don’t like to use Pantene Pro V products since they aren’t exactly the healthiest for your hair but I still use them for some reason. I think it’s because I like the smell, great reason right? Much like all Pantene Pro V products, this one is very fragrant. The sample size is a little small but should last me several uses. I don’t use a lot of conditioner, a little will usually do it for me.

Nivea Extended Moisture Daily Lotion [Purchase]

Actual Value: 13.5 fl oz ($7.99)
Target Beauty Bag Value: 1 fl oz ($0.60)

I’ve used a couple Nivea products over my lifetime and while I’m not super impressed by their products, I’m also not disappointed. Their lotions have worked well enough for me, but I prefer to use other products. There’s not a strong scent to this product, which is probably good. Whatever scent it does have, I’m not a huge fan of. I’m more of a floral scented type of person, this one has a very sharp scent that my nose does not particularly like. I think there’s a hint of vanilla in it? The lotion itself works fine, it’s not very oily and is said to help with dry skin, which I do have. This will be a nice addition for me to carry around in my purse should I chose to use it and will definitely last me quite a few uses.

Neutrogena visibly bright Daily Facial Cleanser [Purchase]

Actual Value: 6.7 fl oz ($6.99)
Target Beauty Bag Value: 0.5 fl oz ($0.52)

Description: Transforms dull, tired skin to visibly bright and refreshed

This is probably the only item I was disappointed by. Nothing against Neutrogena, but their facial products cause my face to develope a super itchy rash and swell up. I’ve tried 2 of their products and had the same results. I can’t remember the name of the ingredient that causes me to have an allergic reaction to but it seems to be in all of their products and it seems that it’s only my face that is sensitive to it. I’m not sure what I’ll do with this item, I’ll probably give it away at some point.

Loreal Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer [Purchase]

Actual Value: 0.68 fl oz ($10.99)
Target Beauty Bag Value: Unknown, sample packet did not contain size

Description: Transform your skin into a flawless canvas with Magic Lumi Light Infusing primer from L’OrĂ©al Paris. It blends seamlessly into skin to cover flaws, smooth texture and boost luminosity. Use it alone for a supple, dewy look or mix it with foundation for an all over radiant finish.

I’m not sure if I’ll try this, I guess it wouldn’t hurt but since I would like to start using BB creams more, I don’t see the need now for more foundations. The sample packet allows enough for only use.

Target Coupon Book with 13 Coupons

The Target beauty bag also came with a book of coupons for various beauty, hair, and make up products. If you were to use all 13 coupons, you would save $19 so I suppose the coupon book has a $19 value. There’s nothing in there I would buy so this will be another one I’ll have to see if someone can take better advantage of.

    Total Value: $21.89 (including coupons)

It’s not a bag to go crazy for in terms or items or value but you can’t complain for something that is free. Much like I said before, the makeup bag itself is totally worth it and I’m very glad Target gave these away for free!

Garnier also offered a sample of their new BB cream a little while ago. To be honest, I thought the sample would be a little bit more generous but I suppose that was wishful thinking. I’ve heard good things about this BB cream. The US is slowly starting to catch up in terms of BB cream usage and Garnier seems to have done it right.

Be sure to check out Blog Love Therapy where they have weekly blog hops! It’s a great way to get your blog out there as well as discover new blogs to read and follow. I’ve been looking for more blogs to read so this is really good for me :)

This was meant to be a quicker blog post, I’m surprised it took me this long to do. I guess it didn’t help that I stopped to watch the WWE match that happened between John Cena and Brock Lesnar last night. Now, THAT is a fight worth watching!

My Pretty & Cute order came today as well, I can’t wait to use some of the masks as well as the moisturizer I got! My Birch Box and Glossy Box will also arrive this week, looks like I have a busy week ahead of me :)
