Setting goals for myself!

Saturday April 28th, 2012 at 11:14 pm

There hasn’t been a whole lot to blog about lately, hence all the giveaway posts. There seems to be a lot of them around lately, maybe I’ll win one? It tends to suck a lot living in a city that does not have anything going on ever. It probably also doesn’t help that I’m working 6 days a week. Oh the dreams of being in a large city that actually has places to go and things to do.

I had my first hamburger in almost 2 months tonight! It was so good. Dieting can be hard but you do get used to it. I suppose it’s a good thing I actually like eating healthy foods but the burger and fries were fantastic. Being deprived of something really makes you appreciate it more. Now all that’s missing is going back to working out regularly. Stomach muscles here I come.

I had a sudden determination to learn Japanese today, and I mean actually learn it. It’s been something I’ve been wanting to do for a decade now. Come to think of it, if I had just started back then, I’d probably be fluent in it by now even if I learned it on and off. Lesson of the day: If you want to do something, just do it. Time is something you never get back and things only become harder as time goes on. I don’t know how far I’ll be able to take it but I would like to eventually become fluent enough to hold a conversation. Hiragana and katakana aren’t that hard to learn so much as the language. I have no idea what I plan on doing with the kanji. Being Chinese, I already have a hard enough time learning Chinese characters but maybe this will benefit me in both Chinese and Japanese. Right now I have no idea how to make time for all of this since I’m also wanting to go back to working out regularly on top of working 2 jobs and still trying to have time for family, friends, and of course the blog. My plan right now is to dedicate 1-2 hours a day whenever I can and I can always practice when I’m at work, especially on Saturdays if it’s slow. I’d like to go to Japan one day, but I’d also like to be able to travel around without having to rely 100% on someone. It’s time for a challenge I think :) Progress will be noted of course. I’ll find Rosetta Stone either tonight or tomorrow and also look around to find some good apps to get on my iPhone. I don’t mind paying for a few, I think it’ll pay off.

I should be able to get some reviews up next week. My birchbox should be here early next week and I know my Pretty and Cute package is also on it’s way. No news on Glossy Box yet. They had said mid-week they were about to ship the boxes but I haven’t received notification of any sort nor have they made confirmation that boxes have been sent out. I believe the Look Bag ships around the first of the month so that’s also something to look forward to. I haven’t heard anything on My Glam either. It was expected that new subscriptions were to be open this past week but that never happened, at least not to my knowledge. It looks like I will have to wait until June.

Another goal I’d like to set for this year is to get going on lookbook.nu. I like the concept and although I have absolutely no knowledge of fashion, it’s something I would like to experiment and get into. I feel like lookbook will be a great start, both for inspiration and motivation. Bloglovin is another website I’ve found to like and am glad I finally got around to looking into it. It makes following blogs very easy. You’re able to add all of your favorite blogs and blogs that you read often and it lists all of their posts either by date of blog. Basically, it’s one blog for ALL of your blogs. There’s also an iPhone app for it so I can read where ever I am with ease.

I’m also all caught up on Game of Thrones, it’ sooo good. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the season turns out. I’m really glad I gave this series a chance :D

I’ve found out I really like to stay busy. I envy people who have more time to dedicate to the things they like to do ;_;
